Josie’s first encounter with yoga began when her roommate dragged her to her first hot, Bikram yoga class. As an overachieving art student in San Francisco, there was nothing more humbling and ego-breaking than those hot, mind-twisting 90 minutes.
She would then spend almost the next decade rejoicing in the heat – and reminiscing of her childhood background in dance – until she discovered vinyasa in New York. In 2014, Josie earned her 200-hour teacher certification with Jai Yoga Arts in Brooklyn, New York, where she taught a mix of Vinyasa and Yin yoga for the next 2 years.
Josie would then go on the adventure of a lifetime for the next decade, living in Shanghai, Hong Kong, and France. During her time overseas, she taught gym and studio yoga classes, private yoga lessons, and corporate classes. Josie has also had the pleasure assisting her former mentor’s YTT in Thailand, as well as leading workshops on menstrual education with Asia’s first female-led women’s health brand.
After returning to her hometown of Seattle in 2024, Josie finds herself in Eastlake and ready to create and participate in the local community. She looks forward to advancing her knowledge with further teacher training in 2025 and 2026.
Drawing inspiration from nature and the Pacific Northwest, Josie’s vinyasa classes celebrate the cyclical nature of rest and movement. Her style focuses on organic movement, intuitive flow, and alignment, while helping you to integrate your practice on and off the mat.
