Co-hosted with Christina Sanini of Heart Seed Ritual
As autumn deepens and nature begins its steady turn toward darkness, we, too, are invited to turn inward and reflect on cycles of life and death – endings, transitions, and release.
In many traditions, this is a threshold time: Samhain (Celtic), Día de Muertos (Mexico), All Hallows (Europe), Pitri Paksha (India), and more. It is said that the veil between worlds grows thin, reminding us of impermanence – of how everything, from the falling leaves to our own breath, is part of a larger cycle.
The coming darkness is not only an ending, but a sacred space of becoming – an invitation to release what no longer serves and reclaim what matters most.
We will begin our gathering with a special rooftop* cacao and fire ritual, creating space for reflection, forgiveness, and intentional release. Cacao has long been used ceremonially to open the heart and support deep listening, making it a perfect companion for this work. Together, we’ll acknowledge what we are ready to let go of and honor what we wish to carry forward before moving further into the practice.
From there, we’ll return to the indoor studio and transition into an extended Restorative Yoga and meditation practice centered around śavāsana, which translates to corpse pose – a sacred rehearsal for surrender.
Through supported stillness, we’ll explore the practice of letting go with tenderness and curiosity, while honoring the preciousness of this embodied life.
Central to the practice will be an extended guided meditation from Stephen Levine’s influential book, A Year to Live, inviting us to contemplate death – the ultimate inevitable – with presence and grace.
Join us as we honor the wisdom and lessons of impermanence, soften our grip on what we cannot control, and rest in what endures.
All bodies welcome, regardless of yoga experience. We will be on the floor for the majority of this event. Wear cozy layers and bring socks and your favorite blanket.
*Please note: The first half hour of this event will be held outdoors on the rooftop for the cacao ritual – rain or shine (except in the case of severe weather). Dress appropriately, and please bring a raincoat/umbrella, if the weather merits.
Space is limited, early registration is highly suggested.
